The YAHOO SCOX Archive

This archive is a private archive of the Yahoo financial message board for discussions of "The SCO Group", symbol SCOX . As a private undertaking, Yahoo bears no responsibility for its contents (other than being point of origin) or maintenance. Yahoo sometimes deletes posts; if they are captured before deletion they will continue to exist here and their retention here cannot be considered any reflection of Yahoo's policy or intent. To avoid any appearance of copyright infringement of individual posters' messages, the messages are truncated at around 50-100 words, which should meet fair use limitations; if the message is longer than that, a frame or link will be offered back to the original Yahoo post (if it remains in Yahoo). In the future a feature may be added to allow full display of messages by posters who have agreed to allow it.

Normally, a financial stock board would be of no interest beyond those interested in financial matters. But SCOX, and the Yahoo discussion board related to it is not an "ordinary" financial discussion forum.

"The SCO Group" has made a wide variety of controversial statements regarding the Linux operating system and Free and Open Source Software generally. Aside from the zeal pro and con in discussion of SCOX's specific claims and court cases, the issues raised and discussed on this board relating to those matters frequently touch upon questions of policy and politics which will shape this new century.

For that reason, as an advocate of F/OSS the owner/maintainer of this site has chosen to present this archive in hopes that it may be of use to those seeking enlightenment upon the many fascinating aspects of issues arising out of SCOX's aggressive persuit of controversy.

Presently, this archive has only minor extra utility over raw access to the yahoo board: Yahoo lost about 30k posts (145000-178000) they are here, and I offer a threaded view which Yahoo lacks. In the future I hope and expect to present alternate search and view facilities (viz by poster, by thread rank) as well as statistical summaries.
